Robert D. Holland, M.D., M.H.A., a board-certified physiatrist with more than 20 years of clinical experience, joined the School of Medicine as chair of rehabilitation medicine in 2023. Dr. Holland is chief of Rehabilitation Medicine and residency program director at New York Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan.

With an interest in healthcare leadership, he previously served as medical director of Amsterdam Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in New York City and chief medical officer of Dr. Susan Smith McKinney Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brooklyn. Dr. Holland has a special interest in musculoskeletal medicine, and as former director of musculoskeletal rehabilitation at Helen Hayes Hospital he collaborated with orthopedic surgeons from The Hospital for Special Surgery, Westchester and Rockland counties.  

Dr. Holland also serves as the medical director of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program for both the Westchester and Rockland County Department of Social Services. Combining a love of flying with his medical training, he serves as a flight surgeon with the U.S. Air Force Air National Guard, 105th Medical Group.
