Radiology

The Department of Radiology at New York Medical College (NYMC) is comprised of a dedicated radiology team that includes board-certified radiologists, technologists, nurses, and other support staff who provide the best possible patient care. Advanced imaging offers sub-specialized radiologists and physicians who are leading experts in pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, interventional radiology, women's imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, body imaging, PET/CT, and nuclear medicine.

Most faculty are based at Westchester Medical Center, a major clinical affiliate of NYMC, where patients are provided high-quality imaging in a safe, technologically advanced, and comfortable environment. CT, MRI, mammography, and ultrasound are all fully accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR). PET/CT and nuclear medicine are accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

Research

Research on improving patient outcomes is an important focus of the Department. Faculty undertake research on a wide variety of radiological topics, often in conjunction with medical students, and research has been published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national conferences.

Medical Student Education

Faculty in the Department of Radiation Medicine teach during the preclinical years as part of the foundational courses. To further explore the field, third-year and fourth-year students may opt to take electives in radiology to learn more about the scope of the field, including plain film, ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, and mammography, as well as an elective in hospital-based interventional radiology, where students can gain hands-on experience with image-guided interventions.
