I. PURPOSE

To establish guidelines under which the New York Medical College (“NYMC”) School of Health Sciences and Practice (“SHSP”) will accept graduate credits transferred from another institution.

II. POLICY

It is the policy of the NYMC SHSP that a student who has completed graduate courses at another accredited school may be permitted to transfer earned credits.

Applicants must have earned a minimum grade of B.

Courses must be appropriate to the student's program at the SHSP and have been completed within the past five (5) years.

Each course for which credit is being sought must be approved by the department chair/chief.

For Public Health MPH/MS/DrPH degree candidates, a maximum of 12 credits are transferable.

For SLP, DPT degree candidates, a maximum of 12 credits are transferable. Exceptions may be made by the Dean’s Office.

III. SCOPE

This policy applies to all SHSP students.

IV. PROCEDURES

A. Student must submit the Application For Transfer Credit Evaluation form at or before the time of initial registration.

B. The form is then reviewed and approved by the chair/chief.

V. EFFECTIVE DATE

This policy is effective immediately.
