Walter L. Jenkins, PT, MS, AT-Ret, DHS, comes to NYMC from the University of Rochester Medical Center, where he was a senior physical therapist. He first joined NYMC in January 2025 as a visiting professor. Dr. Jenkins has served as professor, physical therapy program director, and administrator at multiple universities. His research focus is epidemiology and prevention of athletic injury. He has been clinically active in university athletic programs throughout his career. Dr. Jenkins has been active in the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the American Academy of Sports Physical Therapy (AASPT) where he served as academy president (2016-2022). He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association. In 2010, Dr. Jenkins received the AASPT’s Ron Peyton Award and was inducted into the AASPT Hall of Fame for Lifetime Achievement in 2012.
