Kenneth A. Knapp, Ph.D.
Kenneth A. Knapp, Ph.D., advises doctoral students and supervises dissertation research in the Dr.P.H. program, and teaches healthcare economics, health services research, and other courses at New York Medical College. He was an original member of the interdisciplinary research team at the International Longevity Center, a nonprofit think-tank led by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and geriatrician Robert N. Butler. Dr. Knapp previously served as visiting assistant professor in the Master of Health Administration program at Seton Hall University. He serves as a senior associate for the non-profit China America Living Arts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of traditional and contemporary Chinese and cross-cultural arts through education and research. Dr. Knapp earned a Ph.D. in economics from the Graduate School at the City University of New York, completing his dissertation under the advisement of noted health economist Michael Grossman. He is a member of the New York State Public Health Association and of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration. Dr. Knapp volunteers at the YMCA as an exercise instructor for the visually impaired in Montclair, New Jersey, where he lives with his wife and daughter.

Research
An economist who specializes in gerontology, Dr. Knapp's current research interests include program evaluation of the health benefits of Taiji and Qigong, particularly in the context of workplace wellness programs; the implications for healthcare, family caregiving and long-term care of aging and longevity; and the health effects of “non-healthcare” sectors such as housing and labor markets.
