
Padmini Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.Phil., CHES, FRSPH

Padmini (Mini) Murthy, M.D., M.P.H., M.S., M.Phil., CHES, FRSPH, is a physician and an activist who completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. Dr. Murthy has practiced medicine and public health for the past 30 years in various countries. She has been working in various arenas of the health care industry including the private sector.
Dr. Murthy has been on the Dean's list at NYU Steinhart School of Education and named Public Service scholar at the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School at New York University. She is also a Certified Health Education Specialist. Dr. Murthy is the Global Health Lead and NGO Representative of the American Medical Women’s Association to the United Nations. She has served as a consultant to the United Nations as well as first vice chair of the Global NGO Executive Committee, New York, at the United Nations. In this role, Dr. Murthy has worked with UN Ambassadors, to discuss women’s health challenges. She has been at the forefront of organizing workshops and seminars internationally on women's health. She has been the recipient of numerous awards.
Dr. Murthy serves as chair of the International Health Section of American Public Health Association (APHA) since November 2020. Previously she has served as Governing Councilor APHA, representing IH Section. She has served as chair of the advisory council for APHA’s Publication Nations Health and was appointed to serve two terms as chair of the Committee of Women’s Rights APHA.
