Application Deadlines
Applications are accepted for spring and fall starting semesters for both on-campus and online track applicants. Applications must be received by August 1 for a fall start and December 15 for a spring start. For online tracks applicants only: applications for summer semesters are accepted – the deadline for summer applications is May 1. Late applications may not be reviewed.
On-Campus and Online Tracks
You will select either the on-campus track or the online track when applying. Our on-campus program includes a combination of on-campus sessions and live, remote Zoom sessions. The online program is synchronous, meaning that sessions are held live, remotely via Zoom. All on-campus and online Dr.P.H. class sessions meet in late afternoons and evenings Eastern Time. Those who cannot commit to these times should not apply.
We encourage you to consider the on-campus track first, as applications to the online track may be more competitively evaluated by the Admissions Review Committee.
Admission Criteria
To apply you will need:
- A Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) or master's degree in a related health field. Applicants with an M.D., D.O., or other clinical doctoral degrees will be considered
- A graduate GPA at the master’s level of at least 3.5.
Accepted applicants who do not have an M.P.H. in the appropriate area may need to complete some pre-requisite coursework prior to beginning the Dr.P.H. It is possible, through a combination of educational and professional experience, that some master’s prerequisites may be waived.
Application Review
An application is reviewed by the Admissions Review Committee as soon as it is complete and verified by SOPHAS. You may be contacted prior to acceptance for an interview by Dr.P.H faculty, at which time further information about the program will be provided and you may ask any questions you have.
Accepted students must submit a non-refundable $500 deposit to guarantee a place in the program. The deposit will be applied to your first semester’s tuition. An orientation for newly accepted students takes place about one week prior to the start of the semester via Zoom.
International Students
International students must complete additional requirements. Visit the International Student Applicants page for more information.
