Patrick Sturges is a DrPH student in Health Policy and Management at NYMC.
Before matriculating at NYMC, Patrick spent nearly two decades working in research areas focused on treating chronic diseases. His experience spanned bench to bedside, as his research career began with contributions to several laboratory discoveries and later led him to conduct clinical research, resulting in multiple FDA approvals for biologics and medical devices. During his time performing laboratory and clinical research, he was fortunate to study a variety of disease states while functioning in leadership roles. Through these experiences and his evolving understanding of health, his research interests have shifted towards the prevention of chronic diseases through public health efforts. Notably, in his most recent role as a Clinical Scientist at Pfizer, he explored public health approaches to disease prevention.
Patrick is currently dedicated to his public health journey as a member of the Westchester County Department of Health. His goal is to explore the intersection of chronic diseases and environmental health by leveraging health policy and management, epidemiological, and interdisciplinarity lenses to identify ways to improve the health of vulnerable populations in his community.
