M.P.H. in Epidemiology Admissions
If you majored in biology, pre-med, psychology, computer programmers, or public health, you like math, and want to work in public health studying the causes and patterns of disease and injury, the M.P.H. in Epidemiology could be a good fit for you. Below you’ll find admissions requirements and how to apply to the M.P.H. in Epidemiology program.
How to Apply
Submit your application and all relevant documents through SOPHAS, the centralized public health application service. An interview may be required if requested by the department or faculty.
What You’ll Need
In addition to your application, you will need to submit the following documents. All documents should be submitted through your SOPHAS application. GRE scores are not required.
- Undergraduate transcripts – Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university, with a major in a subject related to healthcare, mathematics, or science
- 9 or more credits must be in quantitative or research-oriented courses. Minimum grade: B
- At least one writing or composition course to demonstrate adequate writing skills. Minimum grade: B
- Two (2) letters of recommendation – Faculty, supervisors, or employers accepted
- Personal statement
- Resume
Application Deadlines
Applications are evaluated on a rolling basis, but those submitted by the dates below are most likely to be successful.
- Fall Term: August 1
- Spring Term: December 1
- Summer Term: May 1
International students apply for a summer start, and the deadline is: April 15
Admission Criteria

- Extracurricular activities
- Passion for public health – understanding and appreciation of the field, clear desire to be involved with improving the health of your community
Conditional Admission
Some applicants who fall just short of admissions standards but show promise and potential may be offered conditional admission. In this case, the student will be allowed to register for either six (6) or nine (9) credits during their first term. If the student is able to meet all of the following criteria, they can be reviewed for full admission.
- Overall GPA of 3.0 or better
- Grade of B or better in each respective course
- Failure to achieve this may result in an additional semester of conditional status
- Able to demonstrate skills and competencies taught by courses taken
- Has acted in accordance with the Code of Academic Integrity
