Janet Dolot, M.S., D.P.T., Dr.P.H.’ 14, PT, OCS
Janet P. Dolot, M.S., D.P.T., Dr.P.H.’ 14, PT, OCS, has been a faculty member since 2005 and a physical therapist delivering clinical services in diverse interdisciplinary settings and community-based physical therapy practices since 1994. She is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), having served as committee chair for the research and the payment and practice committees of the Health Policy and Administration Section, treasurer for the Hudson Valley District of the New York State (NYS) chapter, and NYS chapter delegate to the House of Delegates. Dr. Dolot is certified as an Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties and as a Certified Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapist by the Manual Therapy Institute. She is an excellent teacher and clinician and a developing researcher who continues to learn from students, patients, and colleagues. Dr. Dolot is skilled at facilitating team processes and outcomes and has experience/expertise in:
- Using advanced technology for teaching in face-to-face and on-line environments
- Facilitating development of student psychomotor skills related to manual therapy and orthopaedic physical therapy practice
- Fostering student critical thinking and decision making in student-centered education
- Developing interprofessional education experiences
- Training individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds about ergonomics and body mechanics
- Mentoring physical therapy students in research and community service activities
- Providing patient-centered orthopaedic physical therapy services in constrained practice environments
- Performing population health-related physical therapy research, including physical therapy utilization for patients with low back pain, prevention of frailty in community-dwelling older adults, benefits of running for children with ASD, and promotion of musculoskeletal health for dental students
