LaShari Valentin, Ph.D., is an accomplished medical education professional with a robust background in health sciences and business administration. Her educational journey includes international experiences, such as study abroad programs in London and Paris, which broadened her perspective on global education and administration. Dr. Valentin’s doctoral dissertation at Seton Hall University focused on investigating decision-making practices among U.S. graduate medical education program directors in selecting residency applicants. She has also co-authored publications, including the longitudinal review “Rate My Attending,” assessing residents’ perceptions of educational experiences.
During her career, Dr. Valentin has held pivotal roles within graduate and undergraduate medical education. In her current role as the associate dean for academic affiliations and clinical programs, she manages a comprehensive portfolio of academic affiliation agreements and ensures compliance with accreditation requirements. Previously, she served as the director of postgraduate medical education at Montefiore Medical Center, as well as in similar roles at Hackensack Meridian Health and Mount Sinai Medical Center. In these positions, she oversaw graduate medical education compliance to meet accreditation standards and directed a wide range of programmatic issues, including long-range planning and ACGME program applications.
Dr. Valentin is an active member of several professional associations, including the American College of Healthcare Executives and the National Association of Health Services Executives. Her leadership is characterized by a dedication to improving educational outcomes and fostering an inclusive culture within the healthcare community.
