Below are the School of Medicine (SOM) academic calendars for each class, or medical student year. They give a good overview of a typical medical student's education across four years at NYMC SOM.
The calendar and schedules are subject to change and NYMC reserves the right to reschedule classes during the academic year, between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., as special situations warrant.

Holiday observance schedules in Year 3 & Year 4 are determined by the hospital, team, and clerkship director, except for the Thanksgiving Break period (Thursday – Sunday, November 27, 2025 – November 20, 2025).

- Curricular Requirements include TWO required subspecialty track rotations PLUS eight additional, four-week electives (Total 40 weeks)
- Attendance required for Transition to Phase 3 and Transition to Residency Courses
