William H. Frishman, M.D., has received national recognition for excellence in teaching. He is a recipient of the Medical Humanism Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges and a Mastership of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Frishman is a practicing internist and cardiologist with a research interest in cardiovascular pharmacology, clinical epidemiology and geriatrics. He has authored and co-authored more than 900 original articles, reviews and book chapters. He has also edited, co-edited, authored and co-authored twelve full-length textbooks, including a major text, Cardiovascular Pharmacotherapeutics (McGraw-Hill) now in its second edition. He published three books: Complementary and Integrative Therapies for Cardiovascular Disease (Elsevier 2005), Cardiovascular Regeneration and Stem Cell Therapy (Blackwell Futura, 2007) and Hypertension: A Clinical Guide (Lippincott, 2007). He is also the supplements editor for the American Journal of Medicine and a co-editor of the journal Cardiology in Review and the Yearbook of Medicine.

Research

Dr. Frishman has served as a principal investigator in multiple NIH funded studies including the "Systolic Hypertension in the Elderly" (SHEP) Trial, the "Studies of Left Ventricular Dysfunction" (SOLVD), the "Womens Health Initiative Trial" (WHI) and the "Bronx Longitudinal Aging Study."
