Julio A. Panza, M.D., joined Westchester Medical Center in 2013 and the faculty of NYMC in 2014. He became the inaugural Director of the Department of Cardiology at Westchester Medical Center in 2019.
Prior, Dr. Panza served the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as a senior staff fellow and clinical investigator, as well as the director of echocardiography at the NIH and a senior investigator and head of the Section on Echocardiography after receiving Tenured Scientist status at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Dr. Panza also has served on the faculty at Washington Hospital Center, where he held various roles, including director of the Coronary Unit, director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, and director of the Division of Cardiology.
Dr. Panza has an extensive background as a researcher and was a principal investigator on multiple investigations while at the NIH. He is a leader in the field of endothelial dysfunction and has published extensively on the subject, including co-editing the book Endothelium, Nitric Oxide, and Atherosclerosis.
