Faculty Development

The School of Medicine (SOM) Faculty Development Office provides programs and resources that allow SOM and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBMS) faculty to build professional skills and knowledge in scholarship and education, to promote mentorship and collaboration, and to reward and recognize faculty commitment to and excellence in education. The Office engages faculty on an ongoing basis to ensure programs and resources are applicable to faculty needs and supports faculty as they create an optimal learning environment for students and continually cultivate their deep pedagogical knowledge.

The Office supports career and professional development of SOM and GSBMS faculty at all levels including teaching, research, service and clinical practice. It’s why we offer:

  • Career Advancement in Academic Medicine Series
  • Junior Faculty Mentoring / Promotion
  • Guidance in Scholarly Work 
  • Assist Course Directors with Course or Curriculum Development on an "As Needed" Basis
  • One to One Consultation with Course Directors and Faculty (Feedback to Improve Teaching Skills)
  • Resident as Teacher/Student as Teacher
